Source:MARA Date:2026-10-31

An event promoting China’s local specialties to global markets was held on October 30 in Chengdu, Sichuan Province. The event was hosted by the Agricultural Trade Promotion Center of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. Tao Huaiying, Chief Veterinary Officer of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (MARA), attended the event and delivered remarks.

Tao emphasized that developing local specialty industries serves as a foundation for advancing all-round rural revitalization. He said that in recent years, China has deepened international agricultural cooperation and adopted various measures to boost exports of distinctive agricultural products, achieving tangible results.

Looking ahead, he called for efforts to capitalize on growing global demand for green, high-quality, and distinctive agricultural products. This will require strengthening local specialty industries and building a more robust industrial base; refining a mechanism for linking smallholder farmers with larger agricultural entities and aligning their economic interests; building leading export brands and enhancing their reputation; and improving public services to remove barriers to business.

Tao also stressed the importance of facilitating international trade and fostering mutually beneficial cooperation, noting that these efforts will help bring more of China’s specialty products to global markets, while supporting rural development and increasing farmers’ incomes.

Ma Zhengyong, Vice Governor of Sichuan Province, and Gonzalo Talavera, Peru’s Chargé d’Affaires ad interim in China, also attended the event and delivered remarks.

The event was held alongside the 16th China Potato Expo.
