Zhang Zhili, Vice Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China, met with Kim Jong-gu, Vice Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs of South Korea, in Beijing on September 7. Vice Minister Kim was visiting China at the invitation of the Chinese side. Vice Minister Zhang also attended the opening ceremony of the 19th Meeting of the China–South Korea Agricultural Cooperation Committee and delivered remarks. 

Vice Minister Zhang said that China and South Korea are important neighbors and partners. Since last year, the two heads of state have exchanged visits and reached important consensus on a series of issues, charting the course for cooperation in various fields, including agriculture. China stands ready to work with South Korea to give full play to the role of the China–South Korea Agricultural Cooperation Committee, further deepen agricultural policy exchanges, expand cooperation in areas such as smart agriculture and climate response, and jointly advance practical agricultural cooperation between the two countries. 

Vice Minister Kim thanked the Chinese side for hosting the 19th Meeting of the China–South Korea Agricultural Cooperation Committee. He said that South Korea stands ready to work with China to strengthen exchanges of information and experience in areas such as animal husbandry and veterinary medicine, agricultural science and technology innovation, and the conservation and utilization of agricultural heritage, so as to achieve even greater outcomes in bilateral cooperation.
