Zhang Zhu, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, met separately with Trinh Viet Hung, Minister of Agriculture and Environment of Vietnam, and Andrew John Hoggard, Minister for Biosecurity and Food Safety of New Zealand, in Hangzhou on August 24. Both ministers were in China to attend the 2026 APEC Food Security Ministerial Meeting. 

In his meeting with Minister Trinh Viet Hung, Zhang Zhu said that in recent years, under the strategic guidance of the leaders of both countries, people-to-people exchanges between China and Vietnam have remained close, bilateral economic and trade cooperation has advanced steadily, and agricultural cooperation has yielded notable results. China stands ready to continue making effective use of the China–Vietnam Joint Committee on Agricultural Cooperation, actively build platforms for cooperation, and work with Vietnam to deepen practical cooperation in areas including trade in agricultural and fishery products, so as to translate into concrete actions the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries at their meeting in April. Trinh Viet Hung expressed the hope that the two sides would convene the third meeting of the Joint Committee on Agricultural Cooperation in Vietnam at an early date and jointly organize a China–Vietnam agribusiness matchmaking event. 

In his meeting with Minister Hoggard, Zhang Zhu said that agriculture is a key pillar of China–New Zealand cooperation. Bilateral agricultural cooperation is well-established, broad in scope, and highly developed. Over the years, bilateral agricultural cooperation mechanisms have continued to improve, agricultural trade has grown significantly, and scientific and technological cooperation has deepened. China stands ready to work with New Zealand to make full use of the Joint Committee on Agricultural Cooperation, further align on key issues such as sustainable agricultural development, biosecurity and food safety, and jointly elevate bilateral agricultural cooperation to a higher level. These efforts will help enrich the China–New Zealand Strategic Partnership and deliver greater benefits to the people of both countries through practical cooperation in agriculture. Hoggard spoke highly of agricultural cooperation between New Zealand and China and expressed the hope that the two sides would continue high-level dialogue on agriculture and deepen cooperation in areas including sustainable agriculture, trade in agricultural products, food safety standards, and avian influenza prevention and control.
