The 2025 International Conference on Trade in Agricultural Services was held in Nansha District, Guangzhou, on October 28. The conference was co-hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (MARA) and the Guangdong Provincial People's Government. Zhang Zhili, Vice Minister of MARA, and Chen Liangxian, Member of the Party Leading Group of the Guangdong Provincial People's Government, attended the opening ceremony and delivered remarks.

Adopting the theme "Digitization-empowered Value Chain: Shared Opportunities in Trade in Agricultural Services," the conference issued the Nansha Initiative on Promoting Agricultural Services Trade, and released a series of achievements, including reports on the key sectors and exemplary cases in China’s agricultural services trade, as well as China's Agricultural Outbound Investment Report (2024). The conference also showcased the achievements in agricultural services trade under the Belt and Road Initiative.

The conference emphasized that China attaches great importance to the development of agricultural services trade. By advancing institutional opening-up and increasing outbound investment in agriculture, China has fostered a favorable environment and laid a solid foundation for the growth of agricultural services trade. In 2024, China's outbound investment in agriculture reached US$2.83 billion, while the cumulative foreign investment in China's agricultural industry ranks among the top globally. China seeks to work with all countries to strengthen dialogue and institutional opening-up in agricultural services trade, deepen collaboration in agricultural sectors and key projects, encourage entities engaging in agricultural services trade to innovate, and share achievements in agricultural services trade.

The Ministers of Agriculture from the Republic of the Congo, Liberia, and Uganda, as well as Vice Ministers of Agriculture from Cambodia, Myanmar, and Thailand, attended the conference and delivered remarks. The conference brought together nearly 200 participants, including envoys from five countries such as Bangladesh and Argentina, as well as representatives from the Arab League, ASEAN, the Asia and Pacific Seed Association, multinational agricultural corporations, and relevant Chinese provinces, research institutions, social organizations, and companies.
