
Maierdan Mugaiti, Vice Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China, met with Ahmad Riza Patria, Indonesian Vice Minister of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions, in Beijing on October 31. They exchanged views on deepening bilateral cooperation in poverty reduction and rural development.
Vice Minister Mugaiti noted that China and Indonesia have conducted fruitful cooperation in poverty reduction and rural development in recent years. China has achieved its poverty alleviation targets for the new era on schedule and is continuously consolidating and expanding the achievements of poverty alleviation. At present, China is advancing comprehensive rural revitalization in a steady manner, coordinating work on technological innovation, green development, quality enhancement, and brand building in agriculture, in order to accelerate building up strength in agriculture. He said China seeks to enhance policy alignment and experience sharing with Indonesia, and further strengthen cooperation especially in such fields as green agricultural technology, rural specialty industries, and capacity building for young farmers.
Vice Minister Patria spoke highly of China’s achievements in poverty reduction and rural revitalization, and expressed his gratitude for China’s strong support for initiatives such as the benchmarking study to China by Indonesian village heads. He said Indonesia hopes to make new strides in poverty reduction and rural development through the aforementioned cooperation.
