First Meeting of China-Singapore Working Group on Agricultural Cooperation Held in Beijing

Vice Minister Zhang Zhili and Stanley Loh Ka Leung, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment of Singapore, co-chaired the first meeting of the China-Singapore Working Group on Agricultural Cooperation in Beijing on July 15.   

Vice Minister Zhang reviewed the progress of China-Singapore agricultural cooperation, particularly in establishing cooperation mechanisms, promoting economic and trade investment, and advancing S&T exchanges. He briefed the Singaporean side on Chinas measures and current efforts in major animal diseases control, including African Swine Fever, and elaborated on its practices in green and efficient vegetable production. He expressed Chinas readiness to broaden the scope of cooperation and support Singapore in enhancing the resilience of its local supply chains and ensuring food security through agricultural sci-tech innovation. With these efforts, China and Singapore will jointly deliver on the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in agriculture and food security. 

Permanent Secretary Loh expressed appreciation to China for its efforts in convening the first meeting of the China-Singapore Working Group on Agricultural Cooperation. He commended the fruitful outcomes of bilateral agricultural cooperation in recent years and expressed Singapores commitment to deepening exchanges and cooperation with China in areas such as animal health, vegetable production, and aquaculture, as well as increasing imports of high-quality and safe agricultural products from China, thus taking bilateral agricultural cooperation to new heights.
