Huang Yan, Member of the leading Party members group of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China, held a work meeting with Sultan Gaziev, Governor of the Almaty Region of Kazakhstan, in Almaty on June 27. They exchanged views on deepening bilateral agricultural cooperation.  

Huang Yan noted that under the strategic guidance of the two leaders, China–Kazakhstan agricultural cooperation has steadily improved in recent years, yielding notable results. The Almaty Region is one of the key agricultural areas in Kazakhstan. China is ready to strengthen cooperation with the region in fields such as agri-product processing and water-saving technologies, and solidify achievements in joint prevention and control of locusts in border areas, so as to benefit farmers and consumers in both countries. 

Sultan Gaziev expressed his appreciation for China’s long-term assistance to Almaty’s agricultural development. He said Almaty seeks to learn from China’s experience in agricultural technologies and leverage the region’s location along the border with China to further tap cooperative potential in agriculture. 

During her stay in Kazakhstan, Huang Yan also visited agricultural universities and China-invested seed companies.
