
The second meeting of the Subcommittee on Poverty Reduction Cooperation under the framework of China-Uzbekistan Intergovernmental Cooperation Committee was held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, on June 24. Huang Yan, Member of the CPC Leadership Group of the MARA, and Marat Juraev, First Deputy Minister of Employment and Poverty Reduction of Uzbekistan, co-chaired the meeting.
Huang Yan noted that with the support of the heads of state of both countries, China has maintained close exchanges with Uzbekistan and other Central Asian nations to share successful experiences and best practices in poverty alleviation.The cooperation mechanisms have steadily improved, mutual visits have grown more frequent, and capacity-building programs have progressed in an orderly and effective manner. These joint efforts have elevated poverty reduction cooperation into a new highlight of the broader bilateral partnership. She underscored the need to thoroughly implement the outcomes of the Second China-Central Asia Summit and to fully leverage the role of the China-Uzbekistan Subcommittee on Poverty Reduction Cooperation and the Joint Working Group, to further enhance bilateral cooperation in this area.
Marat Juraev spoke highly of China’s experience in poverty reduction. He introduced Uzbekistan’s policy approaches and the phased progress achieved in adapting China’s poverty reduction models to its national context. He affirmed Uzbekistan’s willingness to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with China to advance Uzbekistan’s poverty reduction and development efforts.
During her visit, Huang Yan also held bilateral talks with Oxunov Bunyodjon Ashurmatovich, Advisor to the Minister of Agriculture of Uzbekistan. She visited the China-Uzbekistan Modern Agricultural Science and Technology Demonstration Park at the SCO Agricultural Base, as well as agricultural universities and Chinese-funded enterprises engaged in crop production and agricultural technology in Uzbekistan.
