Han Jun, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, met separately with Abdulrahman AlFadley, Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and Carlos Fávaro, Minister of Agriculture and Livestock of Brazil, in Beijing on May 12.
In his meeting with Minister AlFadley, Minister Han said that China would earnestly implement the consensus reached by the leaders of both countries and deepen pragmatic cooperation with Saudi Arabia in areas such as food security, food safety, agro-trade, and smart agriculture. He said China hopes to work with Saudi Arabia to set up a working group on livestock cooperation to propel cooperation in livestock and poultry breeding and farming, as well as in the prevention and control of avian influenza. Minister AlFadley agreed with the cooperation proposals. He said Saudi Arabia looks forward to the working group beginning operations soon to support Saudi Arabia in advancing its livestock industry and strengthening its food security capabilities.
In his meeting with Minister Fávaro, Minister Han said that under the strategic guidance of the leaders of both countries, China and Brazil have maintained sound and well-established cooperation mechanisms, achieved steady growth in agro-trade and investment, and continuously deepened cooperation in agricultural technology. He said China hopes to work with Brazil to strengthen cooperation in agro-trade, investment, and technology, and to achieve more tangible results through bilateral agricultural cooperation. Minister Fávaro fully agreed with Minister Han's views and suggestions on deepening bilateral agricultural cooperation. He said Brazil hopes to enhance communication and cooperation with China under the framework of the strong bilateral relationship to take Brazil-China agricultural cooperation to a new level.
