Vice Minister Ma Youxiang led a delegation to the Eighth Meeting of Agriculture Ministers of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Member States held via video link on May 12, 2023.   

Vice Minister Ma noted that despite the combined impact of covid-19 and natural disasters, volatile international food prices, and higher agricultural input prices, China secured bumper harvests in 2022, making 19 consecutive years of harvests, thus contributing greatly to global food security. China attaches great importance to its cooperation with the SCO and has conducted close exchanges with SCO member states in areas such as agricultural investment, trade, and S&T. China is willing to strengthen policy dialogue with all SCO member states, boost talent exchanges and training, and promote integrated development in S&T innovation, to create a model of economic and trade cooperation and continuously unleash cooperative potential.  

All parties at the meeting highly commended the importance of deepening cooperation in agriculture and food security under the framework of the SCO and agreed to improve practical cooperation by leveraging the SCO Demonstration Base for Agricultural Technology Exchange and Training.
