In order to strengthen the connection between production and marketing of agricultural products, improve agricultural brand building and the development of the expo industry, the Ministry of Agriculture (MOA) decided to hold Agro Expos from August to December this year.

Operation Plan for Agro Expos
一、Title
Agro Expos (hereinafter referred to as “Expos”)
二、Timing
Late August to Late December, 2011
三、Contents
The campaign includes three stages, i.e. launching, operation and conclusion. It will be launched in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region late August and extended gradually southward and eastward across the country, according to local farming seasons, then culminate in the holding of the 9th China Agricultural Trade Fair (CATF) in October, and will be concluded at the end of December in Beijing. There are altogether 14 key items in this campaign.
(一)Launching
1. A kick-off ceremony for Expos and “Across Xinjiang” activities (August). On the occasion of Turfan Grape Festival in Xinjiang, the MOA will hold a kick-off ceremony for Expos and a press conference to brief on the arrangements of the campaign. In the meantime, it will organize wholesale markets in key marketing regions and major assistance-providing provinces to Xinjiang to carry out the “production-marketing connection campaign for Xinjiang distinctive fruits and melons”, designed to particularly promote local products such as Xinjiang Hami melon, Turfan grape and Kurle bergamot pear etc.
(二)Operation
2. Expo in Jilin (August). The MOA and the Provincial Government of Jilin will jointly hold the 10th China Changchun International Agriculture· Food Expo (Trade Fair), to particularly promote Changbaishan ginseng, Yanbian yellow cattle, Vitale hilly black pig etc.
3. Expo in Guizhou (August). The MOA and the Provincial Government of Guizhou will jointly hold China·Guiyang International distinctive Farm Produce Trade Fair 2011, to particularly promote Zunyi China Guishan chili, Xingren Coixseed, Dujun Maojian tea and Meijiang tea.
4. The MOA and the Provincial Government of Gansu will jointly hold China·Dingxi Potato Conference, to particularly promote competitive products like potato, Lanzhou plateau summer vegetables and Jiuquan onion.
5. Expo in Heilongjiang (September). The MOA and the Provincial Government of Heilongjiang will jointly hold China (Qiqihaer) Green Food Expo, to particularly promote competitive products such as Wuchang rice and Meilin edible black fungi.
6. Expo in Fujian (September). The MOA and the Provincial Government of Fujian will jointly hold the 6th Strait (Fuzhou) Fishery Expo, to particularly promote competitive products like Anxi Tieguanyin Oolong tea, Wuyi Rock Oolong tea, Jianning white lotus, Ningde longan and competitive aquatic products.
7. Expo in Shaanxi (October). The MOA and the Provincial Government of Shaanxi will jointly hold China·Shaanxi (Luochuan) Apple Festival, to particularly promote competitive fruits like Luochuan apple.
8. Expo in Shanxi (October). The MOA and the Provincial Government of Shanxi will jointly hold the 2nd China (Shanxi) Competitive Farm Produce Trade Fair & Expo, to particularly promote coarse grains like Qinzhouhuang millet, Shanxi vinegar, Luliang red date, Pingyao beef and Fenzhou walnut.
9. Expo in Shandong (October). The MOA and the Provincial Government of Shandong will jointly hold the Qingdao International Farm Produce Trade Fair 2011, to particularly promote competitive aquatic products like Chinese mitten crab, as well as fruits and vegetables like Jiaozhou Chinese cabbage, Zhangqiu Chinese green onion, Yantai apple and Laiyang pear.
10. Expo in Sichuan (October). The MOA and the Provincial Government of Sichuan will jointly hold the 9th China International Farm Produce Trade Fair, to promote, among other competitive products and brands, Sichuan pickles, Panzhihua mango, Luzhou longan, Liangshan Leibo navel orange and Sichuan pigs.
11.Expo in Hubei (November). The MOA and the Provincial Government of Hubei will jointly hold the 8th China Wuhan Agro Expo, to particularly promote freshwater products like Qianjiang crayfish, liangzihu river crab and Honghu ecologically-farmed fish, as well as citrus fruits like Zigui navel orange and Yichang tangerine.
12. Expo in Jiangxi (November). The MOA and the Provincial Government of Jiangxi will jointly hold the 3rd Ganzhou International Navel Orange Festival, to particularly promote Gannan navel orange, Nanfeng tangerine, Wanniangongmi rice, Taihe black-bone chicken, Poyang Lake ecologically-farmed aquatic products and Jiangxi green tea.
13. Expo in Hainan (December). The MOA and the Provincial Government of Hainan will jointly hold China (Hainan) International Tropical Agricultural Product Trade Fair, the production-marketing connection campaign for winter melons and vegetables of Hainan and the kick-off ceremony for shipping local winter melons and vegetables northward, in order to promote local competitive products like peppers, melons, legumes and banana.
(三)Conclusion
14. Fine-quality Farm Produce Carnival (December). On the eve of the Central Rural Work Conference and the National Work Conference on Agriculture, the 75-minute Carnival will be held on CCTV-7 and will be attended by officials from relevant authorities and representatives from provinces involved in the Expos who would put on a performance related to the competitive farm produce they have promoted. The Carnival will also release the following news: a. the outcome of national agriculture conferences and expos; b. 100 renowned public brands; c. the result of 2010-2011 classification and identification work of agriculture conferences and expos; d.100 influential farm produce marketers; and e. MOA 2012 plan for agro expos.
