Zhang Zhu, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, met with Majnun Mammadov, Minister of Agriculture of Azerbaijan, in Beijing on October 10. They held in-depth discussions on strengthening bilateral cooperation in agriculture and rural affairs.
Minister Zhang noted that, under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, China–Azerbaijan cooperation across a range of fields has advanced rapidly, with tangible progress in practical agricultural cooperation. Given the strong complementarity between China and Azerbaijan in agriculture, China stands ready to work with Azerbaijan to implement the consensus reached by the two heads of state, make full use of the agricultural working group mechanism, strengthen policy dialogue on agriculture, expand economic and trade cooperation in agriculture, and promote collaboration in agricultural science and technology. These efforts will propel bilateral cooperation in agriculture and rural affairs to a new level and contribute to the development of the China–Azerbaijan comprehensive strategic partnership.
Minister Mammadov said that Azerbaijan attaches great importance to agricultural cooperation with China and hopes to draw on China’s experience in agricultural and rural development, encourage Chinese agricultural enterprises to invest in Azerbaijan, expand trade in agro-products with China, and deepen exchanges in areas such as agricultural policy, smart agriculture, winemaking, and rural revitalization.
Following the meeting, the two sides signed a Memorandum of Understanding Between the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of the People’s Republic of China and the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
