Vice Minister Zhang Zhili co-chaired the third meeting of the Subcommittee on Poverty Reduction Cooperation of the China–Uzbekistan Intergovernmental Cooperation Committee in Beijing on April 1, together with Marat Juraev, First Deputy Minister of Employment and Poverty Reduction of Uzbekistan. The two sides held in-depth exchanges on issues including carrying out pilot projects on poverty reduction, strengthening institutional exchanges, and making better use of the poverty reduction cooperation platform.
Vice Minister Zhang noted that since the establishment of the Subcommittee, China and Uzbekistan have maintained close engagement, exchanging poverty reduction philosophies, sharing successful experiences, and jointly implementing a number of cooperation projects. Through these efforts, the two sides have fostered a favorable environment for mutual growth and poverty alleviation. China is willing to work with Uzbekistan to formulate and implement more practical cooperation initiatives, support Uzbekistan’s poverty reduction efforts, and further deepen bilateral cooperation in this area.
Deputy Minister Juraev spoke highly of China’s accomplishments in poverty reduction and expressed Uzbekistan’s eagerness to further draw upon China’s experience, particularly China’s successful practices of leveraging agricultural industries to reduce poverty. He expressed that Uzbekistan hopes to expand exchanges and cooperation with China in areas such as capacity building, the implementation of demonstration projects, and dialogue between specialized institutions.
Following the meeting, Vice Minister Zhang and Deputy Minister Juraev signed the Minutes of the Third Meeting of the Subcommittee on Poverty Reduction Cooperation of the China–Uzbekistan Intergovernmental Cooperation Committee.
