Chief Veterinary Officer Tao Huaiying Meets with FAO Deputy Director-General Maurizio Martina

Tao Huaiying, Chief Veterinary Officer (CVO) of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, met with Maurizio Martina, Deputy Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), in Beijing on February 9. They exchanged views on enhancing practical cooperation between China and the FAO.  

CVO Tao noted that, as a specialized agency of the UN in the field of agriculture, the FAO plays an important role in global food and agricultural governance. China and the FAO have maintained good cooperation for a long time. He said that China will earnestly implement the spirit of President Xi Jinping’s congratulatory letter on the 80th anniversary of the FAO’s founding, firmly support the FAO’s leading role in global food and agricultural governance, and work with all parties to make unremitting efforts to create a world free from hunger.  

Deputy Director-General Martina spoke highly of China’s achievements in agricultural and rural development and its contributions to global food security. He said the FAO looks forward to further expanding areas of cooperation with China and sharing China’s experience and practices.
