2025 World Expo on Digital Agriculture Opens in Nanning City, Guangxi

The 2025 World Expo on Digital Agriculture (WEDA) opened on November 6 in Nanning City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. Vice Minister Jiang Wensheng attended and addressed the 2025 Smart Agriculture Innovation Conference, the main forum of the 2025 WEDA, together with Xu Xianhui, Vice Chairman of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. 

The Expo was sponsored by MARA Foreign Economic Cooperation Center and co-organized by the Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and the Nanning Municipal People’s Government. 

Speakers at the forum emphasized that digital agriculture is an important driver for developing modern agriculture and building a strong agricultural nation. They called for continued innovation in policy measures, enhanced application-oriented development, and concrete efforts to address development bottlenecks, with a view to empowering comprehensive rural revitalization and advancing the building of a strong agricultural sector through digital transformation. 

Focusing on innovation in smart agriculture and digital rural development, the Expo showcases cutting-edge technologies and achievements from more than 200 exhibitors hailing from over 10 countries. Nearly 1,000 advances in intelligent equipment, “AI+” applications, and digital village solutions are on display. The Expo has attracted professional buyer delegations from 23 countries and nearly 20,000 visitors. A series of thematic events are being held concurrently, including the Smart Agriculture Innovation Conference, the global south agriculture exchange, the smart fishery forum, and the digitally empowered international agricultural products matchmaking session. These activities bring together leading academics, industry experts, enterprises, and international partners to promote synergy between innovation and industry chains and foster deeper integration among government, industry, academia, research institutions, and end users in the field of digital agriculture.
