
The Third Meeting of the China–Türkiye Agricultural Steering Committee was held in Beijing on October 13. The meeting was co-chaired by Zhang Zhili, Vice Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, and Ahmet Bagci, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Forestry of Türkiye. Both sides reviewed and summarized the progress made since the second meeting and held in-depth discussions on key areas and the direction of cooperation over the next three years, reaching a broad consensus.
Vice Minister Zhang noted that under the strategic guidance of the leaders of both countries, agricultural exchanges between China and Türkiye have continued to deepen, with cooperation mechanisms becoming more refined and agro-trade growing steadily. Research institutions on both sides have achieved tangible progress in areas such as germplasm exchange and livestock product processing. Looking ahead, Zhang suggested that both sides deepen cooperation in priority areas including field crop cultivation, water-saving irrigation, animal and plant disease prevention and control, and aquaculture, in order to promote stable and solid China–Türkiye cooperation in agriculture and yield more fruitful results.
Deputy Minister Bagci affirmed the positive outcomes achieved in bilateral agricultural cooperation, saying that Türkiye stands ready to work with China to strengthen cooperation in areas such as water resource utilization, poultry product trade, marine aquaculture, and agricultural high-tech R&D. He also said that Türkiye seeks to work with China to take Türkiye–China agricultural cooperation to a higher level.
Following the meeting, Vice Minister Zhang and Deputy Minister Bagci jointly signed the meeting minutes.
