SARA is the largest agricultural exhibition in West Africa. In his remarks, Vice Minister Zhang stated that China hopes to work with Côte d'Ivoire to earnestly implement the strategic guidance of the leaders of both countries; use this year’s SARA as an opportunity to further align agricultural policies and strategies of the two countries; support strengthening cooperation between research institutes and companies of the two countries; help Côte d'Ivoire move up the agri-product industrial chain, facilitate the transformation and upgrading of its agricultural sector, and enable it to deeply participate in global food and agriculture governance, so as to make a greater contribution to global food security and agricultural development.
Vice Minister Zhang held a work meeting with Kobenan Kouassi Adjoumani, Minister of State and Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development, and Food Production of Côte d'Ivoire, on May 24. They had in-depth exchanges on strengthening China–Côte d'Ivoire cooperation in areas such as agricultural policy dialogue, high-yield cultivation of rice and other crops, agri-product processing, and agricultural technology training. Minister Adjoumani expressed his admiration for China's agricultural achievements and his appreciation for China’s long-term support for Côte d'Ivoire’s agricultural development. He said Côte d'Ivoire hopes China will continue to support Côte d'Ivoire in areas such as the seed industry and agricultural mechanization.
During his stay in Côte d'Ivoire, Vice Minister Zhang also attended the launch ceremony of the Ministerial Seminar on China–Africa Cooperation Strategies and other China Day events, and signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Agricultural Cooperation between China and Côte d'Ivoire with Minister Adjoumani.
