Han Jun, Secretary of the CPC Leadership Group of the MARA, met with Esteban Valenzuela Van Treek, Minister of Agriculture of Chile, in Beijing on Aug. 22. The two sides held in-depth exchanges on pragmatic agricultural cooperation between China and Chile.
Secretary Han noted that, under the strategic guidance of the heads of state of both countries, China and Chile have continuously enriched their comprehensive strategic partnership. The competent agricultural departments of the two countries have signed several cooperation agreements, facilitating smooth and close exchanges in agriculture and leading to fruitful results. Secretary Han said China hopes to work with Chile to actively implement the important consensus reached by President Xi Jinping and President Gabriel Boric during their meeting last October. China also hopes to expand cooperation in areas such as agricultural science and technology, economic and trade cooperation in agriculture, smart agricultural machinery, and green transformation, creating new highlights in bilateral agricultural cooperation.
Minister Valenzuela spoke highly of the friendly agricultural relations between China and Chile, saying that the two countries enjoy vast potential in agricultural cooperation and agricultural trade. Chile hopes to work in tandem with China to achieve new successes in bilateral cooperation.
At the end of the meeting, Secretary Han and Minister Valenzuela signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation Between the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of the People's Republic of China and the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Chile on the China–Chile Demonstration Farm (2024-2027).
Vice Minister Ma Youxiang and Chief Agronomist Pan Wenbo attended the meeting.
