Vice Minister Ma Youxiang Meets with Kazakhstan Agriculture Minister Qaraşukeev

Ma Youxiang, Vice Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, met with Erbol Qaraşukeev, Minister of Agriculture of Kazakhstan, and his delegation in Beijing on May 12. 

Vice Minister Ma pointed out that Kazakhstan is where the Belt and Road Initiative was first launched. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the initiative. Therefore, deepening China–Kazakhstan agricultural cooperation is of great significance. In recent years, fruitful results have been achieved in China–Kazakhstan cooperation in areas such as locust control, agro-trade, and animal husbandry and veterinary medicine. China is ready to work with Kazakhstan to implement the consensus on cooperation reached by the presidents of both countries, develop and make good use of the China–Central Asia agricultural cooperation mechanism, strengthen exchange in information and personnel, improve S&T cooperation in areas such as grain and oilseed selection, water-saving agriculture and soil health, and deepen mutually beneficial, win-win investment throughout the entire agricultural industry, so as to promote deep and solid bilateral cooperation in agriculture. 

Minister Qaraşukeev spoke highly of the results of agricultural exchange and cooperation between China and Kazakhstan. He said that with the upcoming China-Central Asia Summit, Kazakhstan is willing to enhance institutional exchange and dialogue, and jointly plan and design cooperative projects that serve the interests of both countries, so as to propel further development in bilateral agricultural cooperation.
