China, Russia Hold 30th Meeting of Mixed Committee on Fisheries Cooperation

The 30th meeting of the China-Russia Mixed Committee on Fisheries Cooperation was held via video on Apr. 20-25, 2022.  

The two sides exchanged views on the implementation of the Protocol Between the People’s Republic of China and the Russian Federation on Cooperation in the Protection, Adjustment and Proliferation of Fishery Resources in Border Waters of the Heilongjiang River and Ussuri River as well as the Cooperation Agreement Between the People’s Republic of China and the Russian Federation on Preventing, Deterring and Eliminating Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated Fishing of Living Marine Resources. The two sides also discussed fishing cooperation in 2022 and other issues of mutual interests. The minutes were signed at the end of the meeting.  

The two sides reviewed bilateral cooperation since the 29th meeting of the Committee, made specific arrangements for joint supervision over fishing and aquatic resource conservation in border waters of the Heilongjiang River and Ussuri River in 2022, and reached consensus on quotas for China’s fish catches and fishing conditions in Russia’s exclusive economic zone in the Western Bering Sea in 2022.   

The two sides also identified measures for further cracking down on the illegal trade in aquatic products. In addition, both agreed to take practical and effective health protection measures to ensure the health and safety of fishermen and the success of fisheries cooperation.
