MARA Chief Veterinary Officer Attends Eco Forum Global Guiyang 2021

A thematic forum on agriculture entitled “Intelligence Promoting Agriculltural Innovation  Green Concept Guiding Future Industrial Development” was held in Guiyang, Guizhou Province on July 13, as part of Eco Forum Global Guiyang 2021. Li Jinxiang, Chief Veterinary Officer of MARA, attended the event and delivered a speech. 

Li said that in recent years China had accumulated rich experience and practices in promoting ecological agriculture and rural development. He emphasized that China should unwaveringly follow a new development philosophy, adhere to top-level design, value innovation’s driving role, respect the principle role of farmers, uphold openness and cooperation so as to further promote the development of eco-friendly agriculture in China. 

Li proposed more bilateral and multilateral policy exchanges to facilitate the development of international standards in ecological agriculture; stronger partnerships in developing green and innovative technologies in order to make further advances in this field; enhanced international cooperation in eco-agriculture in order to make the development of modern agriculture more eco-friendly. 

During the forum, Li and Wu Shenghua, Vice Governor of Guizhou Province, jointly announced six major achievements in green agricultural development, namely, the FAO Chinese Publication Program; a series of books on China ‘s international agricultural cooperation and its rural revitalization; the China’s Agricultural Trade Development Report 2021 and the China’s Agricultural Trade Atlas 2020; the Research Report on Poverty Reduction and Income Increase from Dynamic Conservation of Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems(GIAHS) in China; achievements of Guizhou’s comprehensive management of stony desertification; and projects from the seventh replenishment of the Global Environmental Facility (GEF) trust fund.
