The 8th meeting of the Agricultural Subcommittee of the China-Ukraine Intergovernmental Cooperation Committee was held virtually on June 23. Ma Youxiang, Vice Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China, and Taras Andriyovych Kachka, Deputy Minister for Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine, presided over the meeting. The two sides conducted in-depth discussions on furthering China-Ukraine cooperation in agriculture and rural affairs against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Vice Minister Ma pointed out that with the support of both countries’ leaders, the China-Ukraine agricultural cooperation mechanism has improved steadily, areas of cooperation have become clearer, and economic and trade ties are closer. Over the past two years, agro-product trade between the two countries has bucked the global trend and enjoyed rapid growth, which fully demonstrates the prospects, resilience and vitality of China-Ukraine agricultural cooperation. Going forward, China and Ukraine should consolidate their existing cooperation and find more opportunities for cooperation, so as to promote bilateral relations.
