Ambassador of China to FAO Guang Defu attended the Platinum Jubilee reception for Queen Elizabeth II at the British Embassy in Italy on June 9, 2022.

Ambassador Guang Defu, who is also Permanent Representative of China to FAO, stated that amidst profound changes unseen in a century, the world is facing unprecedented challenges. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of ambassadorial-level diplomatic ties between China and the UK. As major countries with international influence, China and the UK should take this opportunity, within the framework of the FAO, to enhance understanding and coordination, as well as boost cooperation on climate change, food security and nutrition, contributing wisdom and strength to the eradication of poverty and hunger.    

Edward Llewellyn, UK Ambassador to Italy, and Thomas Kelly, Permanent Representative of the UK to the FAO, extended a warm welcome to Ambassador Guang and expressed their gratitude. Ambassador Kelly expressed UK’s willingness to work together with China to promote the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
