The Center of International Cooperation Service (CICOS) of the MARA invited envoys of relevant countries and international organizations to Anxi, Fujian Province, from April 21– 23, 2021 for study tour to the Anxi Tieguanyin tea system site, a candidate Globally Important Agricultural Heritage System (GIAHS).
As part of series of activities to celebrate the second International Tea Day, the 2021 Anxi Tea Festival aimed at increasing the international influence of the Anxi tea system. The envoys tasted Tieguanyin tea, learned about tea culture and experienced local customs, furthering their understanding of the role of tea planting in ecological preservation, the history of tea and its global popularity.
Jointly sponsored by the CICOS of the MARA, the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and the Agriculture and Rural Affairs Bureau of Quanzhou Municipality of Fujian Province, the event is organized by the Agriculture and Rural Affairs Bureau of Anxi County of Fujian Province.
Up to sixteen representatives or envoys from 12 countries and international organizations, including the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization and the World Food Programme, joined the celebration.
