The Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS) and the Embassy of the Kingdom of Denmark to China co-organized China-Denmark agricultural S&T meeting in connection with the world food security on April 12, 2021.

CAAS Vice President Sun Tan and Danish Ambassador to China Thomas Østrup Møller addressed the meeting. FAO China Representative Carlos Watson delivered a keynote speech.

Taking the theme of “China and Denmark’s Experience in Reducing Food Loss”, experts from China and Denmark and representatives from the World Food Programme (WFP) shared their views on the role of S&T in reducing food waste, improving efficiency of resource utilization, and promoting change of consumer perceptions and the shift of dietary culture.

At the meeting, Vice Pesident Sun Tan and Ambassador Møller held talks and reached consensus. Going forward, China and Denmark will strengthen S&T cooperation in efficient utilization of agricultural wastes, reduction of food loss, and food processing and nutrition, to jointly promote the application of research outcomes in industrial development.

The CAAS and Denmark enjoy sound cooperation in academic exchanges and the training of professionals, with 50 youth scientists from CAAS having study opportunities in Denmark since 2016. Recently, the two sides have jointly set up the China-Denmark network for agricultural S&T cooperation and talent training to promote exchanges and cooperation in this regard.
