The Yangling Agricultural High-tech Industrial Demonstration Zone of China donated medical supplies to the agriculture ministries of Tajikistan and other Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states in early April, 2020. Coordinated and supported by the MARA and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, the donation aimed to aid COVID-19 fight and agricultural production in the SCO member states.

The handover ceremony of China-aided medical supplies to Tajikistan was held at the Embassy of Tajikistan to China on April 7, 2020. Tajikistan and the SCO appreciated China’s efforts in fighting COVID-19, thanked MARA and the Yangling Demonstration Zone for their generosity, and expressed willingness to further agricultural cooperation with China and jointly promote building a community with a shared future for mankind.

The SCO comprises eight member states, namely, China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Pakistan and India. China maintains good bilateral relations with the SCO member states and has close cooperation with them in agriculture. In 2019, China announced that the SCO Agricultural Technology Exchange and Training Demonstration Base would be established in Shaanxi Province.
