Ma Youxiang, Vice Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, met with Belarusian Agriculture and Food Minister Igor Brylo and his delegation in Beijing on Feb. 26.
Vice Minister Ma said the agricultural cooperation between China and Belarus is well-established and wide-ranging. Agro-trade is growing strongly, and remarkable results have been achieved in cooperation in agricultural machinery production, among other things. Vice Minister Ma pointed out that China and Belarus are highly complementary in agriculture. Going forward, in order to provide more support for the agricultural and rural development of both countries, he suggested that China and Belarus should: 1) carry out policy dialogue on areas of common concern including food security, rural construction, and soil health; 2) strengthen technology cooperation in areas such as livestock and poultry breeding, agricultural machinery and equipment, and food processing; and 3) continuously improve agro-trade and investment.
Minister Brylo spoke highly of the achievements of bilateral agricultural cooperation and agreed with Vice Minister Ma’s suggestions, saying that Belarus is ready to deepen exchanges in policy, personnel and technology with China, and take bilateral cooperation to a new level.
