The first group of Chinese agricultural experts arrived in Phnom Penh, Cambodia in early August for a 60-day assistance mission.
Dispatched by MARA, the Chinese experts will work with their Cambodian counterparts and provide assistance in agricultural development planning. During their stay, the Chinese experts will conduct field studies in relevant provinces to better understand the status quo and demands of Cambodia.
In the next stage, China will send the second group of experts to Cambodia to conduct in-depth researches on rice, corn, natural rubber and livestock and work out the China-aid agricultural development plan.
During the first Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation in May 2017, China and Cambodia issued the Joint Press Communiqué of the People’s Republic of China and the Kingdom of Cambodia. It clearly stated that China is willing to help Cambodia formulate the national modern agriculture development plan and strengthen cooperation in deep processing of agricultural products. After initial preparation, the Chinese and Cambodian governments exchanged letters and officially started relevant work this year.
