The 5th China-ASEAN Agricultural Cooperation Forum was held in Nanning, Guangxi, on Sept. 9, 2021. Fang Chunming, Vice Chairperson of the People’s Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, and China’s Chief Veterinary Officer Li Jinxiang attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches.
The event was co-hosted by the MARA and the People’s Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. The Forum focused on dialogue on higher quality agricultural cooperation in the coming years.
Li pointed out that this year marks the 30th anniversary of the China-ASEAN Dialogue relationship. Over the past three decades, China and ASEAN have continuously reinforced and expanded agricultural cooperation with fruitful results. Going forward, China will further strengthen policy communication with ASEAN, push for unimpeded trade and tap cooperative potential to ensure food security and promote prosperity in the region.
Serving as an essential platform for agricultural exchanges and cooperation between China and the ASEAN countries, the Forum has taken place five times since its inception in 2016, playing a positive role in promoting agricultural policy dialogue, trade and investment, and S&T exchanges.
Attending the Forum in person or via video link were representatives from agricultural departments of ASEAN countries, embassies in China, ASEAN Secretariat, international organizations and relevant officials from MARA and competent agricultural departments of provincial-level regions, as well as scholars and business executives.
