Chinese Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs Tang Renjian held a video talk with German Minister of Food and Agriculture Julia Klöckner on April 13. The two sides reached a consensus on many aspects concerning the promotion of Sino-German cooperation in agriculture and rural areas.
Minister Tang pointed out that agricultural cooperation has always been an important part of Sino-German bilateral relations and is highly valued by the leaders of both countries. He said the two countries, having already set a model for bilateral agricultural cooperation, should earnestly implement the consensus reached between the countries’ leaders, support the new round of Sino-German intergovernmental consultations, consolidate and expand agricultural trade, strengthen exchanges in rural development, enhance the functions of the Sino-German Agricultural Centre and promote food and agriculture-related activities such as food loss reduction.
Minister Klöckner endorsed Minister Tang’s views and opinions on strengthening agricultural and rural cooperation between the two countries. He said that Germany is ready to work hard with China to propel agricultural and rural cooperation between the two countries to a higher level.
