According to the Notice, the survey will cover crops, livestock and poultry, and aquatic germplasm resources.

The survey will last for three years from 2021 to 2023, and incorporate three areas. First, it will complete the third national survey and collection of crop germplasm resources in all 2,323 agricultural counties (cities or districts). Second, it will start and complete the third national survey of livestock and poultry germplasm resources in all administrative villages. Third, it will start and complete the first national survey of aquatic germplasm resources covering the main species farmed by all fish farms (or individuals).

The survey will provide a clear picture of China’s resources and help the country effectively collect and protect all rare and endangered resources.
