Tang Renjian, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, met with James Jianzhang Liang, Executive Chairman of the Board of Trip.com Group Ltd. in Beijing on March 22. They exchanged views on developing leisure agriculture and rural tourism, and promoting all-round rural revitalization.
Minister Tang pointed out that in recent years, with the increase of urban and rural incomes and the upgrade of consumption patterns, agriculture and rural areas are becoming all the more important in terms of conserving environment, promoting leisure experience and facilitating cultural inheritance. He said that in order to promote rural revitalization in an all-round way, efforts should be made to leverage the multiple functions of rural areas, diversify rural industries, create more jobs, and expand the channels for farmers to achieve prosperity. Enterprises and other sectors should play their role in promoting new industries and business forms such as leisure agriculture and rural tourism to increase farmers’ incomes and propel economic interaction between urban and rural areas.
He said he hoped that Trip.com Group could leverage the advantages of its popular platform to develop and innovate products related to leisure agriculture and rural tourism, develop distinctive rural industries, develop smart agriculture and promote digital rural construction, and train talents in rural planning, design, construction, and management. He hoped that Trip.com Group could make positive contributions to all-round rural revitalization and help accelerate the modernization of agriculture and rural areas.
