MARA Holds Executive Meeting on Rural Industry Development

An executive meeting, chaired by Minister Han Changfu, reviewed and approved in principle the National Rural Industry Development Program (2020-2025) on June 29. The meeting stressed that it is imperative to attach great importance to rural industry development, prioritize industrial vitalization, deliver stronger guidance and support, and take multiple measures to develop agro-product processing and rural emerging industries, in a bid to provide strong underpinning for all-round rural revitalization.
The meeting emphasized that 2020 is a year of final push to securing a decisive victory of poverty-alleviation, and completing the building of a moderately prosperous society in all aspects. Amid the impacts of COVID-19 outbreak, robust rural industries have played a significant role in substantially promoting farmers’ employment and income, and effectively created synergies between poverty alleviation and rural revitalization.
To make solid progress in rural industry development in all aspects, efforts should be made in guiding and supporting local governments in further exploring their unique resources, promoting innovation-oriented development, building industrial clusters and business chains, establishing a set of industrial agricultural processing parks, initiating agri-tourism programs, and developing major players for innovation and entrepreneurship endeavor, in order to generate tangible and pragmatic results.
