The Kickoff Meeting for Phase III Project of the Sino-German Agricultural Centre (DCZ) was held in a hybrid modality on Sept. 9, 2022. Li Zhiping, Deputy Director-General of the Foreign Economic Cooperation Center of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (MARA), presided over the meeting. Wei Zhenglin, Deputy Director of the Department of International Cooperation of MARA, and Cornelia Berns, Deputy Director of the Department of International Cooperation and World Food Affairs of the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture of Germany (BMEL), attended the meeting and delivered remarks.
During the meeting, the two sides highly commended the results of the DCZ Phase II Project, reviewed and approved the 2022 DCZ Work Plan, and exchanged views on implementing the DCZ Phase III Project as well as advancing Sino-German bilateral agricultural cooperation.
Set up by the Ministry of Agriculture of China (now MARA) and BMEL in 2015, the DCZ was established as a Foreign Economic Cooperation Center affiliate based on the strategic consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries with an aim to build a single platform for Sino-German agricultural cooperation. The DCZ Phase III Project was launched in April 2022, during which the two sides will design and carry out a series of seminars and demonstration projects in agricultural sectors of common concern, and deepen exchanges and mutual-learning about each other’s experience and practices in boosting agricultural development, so as to achieve win-win results.
Qian Yu, Deputy Director of the Department of International Cooperation of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS), attended the meeting offline, while Friederike Dörfler, Food and Agriculture Counsellor of the Embassy of Germany in China, joined the meeting via video link. Officials of MARA and BMEL, as well as executives of DCZ partners, also participated in the meeting in person or online.
