The Foreign Economic Cooperation Center (FECC) held a seminar on Phase III of the China-FAO-Netherlands Triangular Cooperation Programme (2023) on July 8, 2022 to analyze needs and solicit projects. About 40 people attended the seminar either in person or via video link, including representatives from the departments of agriculture and rural affairs of Hunan, Hubei, and Sichuan provinces, etc.; the Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences; the Biogas Institute of Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs; the Hunan Hybrid Rice Research Center; Nanjing Agricultural University; and the Shandong Academy of Agricultural Sciences.

The China-FAO-Netherlands Triangular Cooperation Programme Agreement was officially signed in Rome on June 27, 2019. Under the FAO framework, the programme integrates resources and pushes for innovation by leveraging the comparative advantages of China, FAO, and the Netherlands. It enhances the capacity building of FAO reference centers in China and promotes the development of the aquaculture value chain in Ethiopia where South-South and triangular cooperation projects are being piloted.

The programme mainly carries out projects in four areas: international development policy and practice, sustainable aquaculture, public-private partnership models, and capacity building. Two phases of the programme have been implemented so far. The outcomes of the seminar will be included in the upcoming Coordinator Meeting and Annual Steering Committee Meeting of the China-FAO-Netherlands Triangular Cooperation Programme.
