A 17-member delegation from the Asia-Pacific Space Cooperation Organization (APSCO) visited the Institute of Agricultural Resources and Regional Planning (ARRP) under the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS) on Aug. 31, 2021. The two sides discussed potential cooperation concerning projects, education and human resource development.
The ARRP side briefed the delegation about the latest progress in research, achievements in international cooperation, capacity building, research and application related with remote sensing in agriculture and digital agriculture, among other things. The APSCO side briefed on its disposition, multi-and bilateral cooperation mechanisms and strategic planning, and invited CAAS expert teams to APSCO headquarters.
The two sides agreed to extend the application of CAAS’s agricultural IT solutions in APSCO member countries. They also agreed on increasing exchanges and expanding cooperation scope to enhance mutual understanding and promote common development.
The APSCO, an intergovernmental organization, was inaugurated in 2008 and headquartered in Beijing. It is the second regional intergovernmental space cooperation organization after the European Space Agency to be registered with the United Nations. It works to promote multilateral cooperation in space science, technological R&D and application among Asia-Pacific region, and peaceful use of space as a drive of development.
