The opening ceremony of the “Workshop on Pest/Disease Risk Analysis, Laboratory Diagnosis, and Fumigation in Uzbekistan” was held virtually on March 29. Thirty-seven representatives from the State Plants Quarantine Inspection of Uzbekistan, scientific research institutes, and local inspection and quarantine bureaus registered for the workshop. The opening ceremony was presided over by Hong Zhijie, Counselor of the Center of International Cooperation Service (CICOS) of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China. Alisher Shukurov, Advisor to the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Chen Runyun, Vice President of the Academy for International Business Officials of the Ministry of Commerce of China, and Jin Yulong, Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in the Republic of Uzbekistan, attended the ceremony. Tong Yu’e, Director of CICOS, also attended the ceremony and delivered remarks.
The workshop is being held from March 29 to April 8, and focuses on identification and diagnosis of common plant pests and diseases in Uzbekistan, fumigation techniques, and eco-friendly prevention and control methods. The aim is to improve the capacity of Uzbek specialists to prevent and control pests and diseases, develop the philosophy of eco-friendly prevention and control methods, promote China-Uzbekistan cooperation in agricultural science and technology, and push forward agricultural development for both countries.
